About TeddyThe Teddy Fund's namesake and first shining star was Teddy Parrilla. After 17 years and a brave struggle against incredible odds, Teddy passed away (b.10/20/88 d.3/22/06), but remains the undying spirit of this organization. The Teddy Fund will continue to help other brave children and their families face similar hardships. We are asking everyone to open their hearts and give something to help us provide some relief from these tremendous burdens. Teddy Parrilla gave us inspiration in the face of his own uncertain future, through pain and dibilitating periods of recovery from a lifetime of harrowing surgeries. He will always be our shining example of courage and hope.Teddy Parrilla was in and out of the hospital year after year of constant fighting against an incredible burden. He had 19 surgeries in 17 years.
In spite of his lifelong struggle, Teddy went to school and was loved by his teachers and classmates. He was an amazing boy with great courage. He was 17 years old and a student of Sachem North in Lake Ronknonkoma, New York. He had many interests including motorcycles, NASCAR and pro wrestling. We plan to share many photos of Teddy throughout his life on this site. His smiles in some of these later photos are telling of his spirit and life in the face of adversity.
